The Malaysia Kabaddi Federation (MKF) was honoured with two awards at their inaugural World Kabaddi polling conducted in conjunction with the World Kabaddi Day on March 24.
The MKF was picked as the Best National Kabaddi Association while deputy president S.T. Arasu was picked as the Best International Administrator.
The MKF had hosted the inaugural World Cup Kabaddi in Melaka last year. Malaysia took the bronze in the women’s competition and finished fourth in the men’s competition.
The MKF also hosted also hosted the International Level One Technical Course last year.
The polling was open to all 55 member countries of the World Kabaddi.
Arasu, was the organising chairman of the World Cup, had served as the secretary of the Asian body from 2002 to 2004. He was elected unanimously as the World Kabaddi secretary at its general body meeting in Bangalore in 2018.
Two other international recognition were also made with the Lifetime Achievement Award going to veteran official A.K. Saha of India, who played an instrumental role in the inclusion of kabaddi at the Asian Games in 1990.
The Presidents Merit Award went to Canadian Parminder Mohan Sharma.
Polling was also done among each member countries to pick their best.
The Kabaddi Association of Kuala Lumpur (KAKL) was selected as the best Malaysian kabaddi association.
The husband and wife duo of Jegan Kumar Balaraman and Balajothi Gunasekaran were picked as the Best National Male and Female Players. Both Jegan and Balajothi were members of the Malaysian teams at the World Cup last year.
National coach R. Balamurugan,who also runs his own kabaddi academy, was selected as the Best Coach while Kedahan Rajasegaran KS Maniam was picked as the Best Technical Official.
MKF Treasurer R. Sivanesan was picked as the Best Malaysian Administrator.
