Wong Weng Son ended his individual campaign in the World Wushu Championships in Shanghai with another silver in the men’s qiangshu event.
The exponent missed out on the gold by 0.020 points to end up with his third silver medal in the championships.
He amassed 9.610 points to finish behind Russian Pavel Muratov who was awarded the gold with 9.630 points.
Weng Son missed out on the men’s chanquan gold by a mere 0.007 points earlier this week.
The Negri Sembilan-born Weng Son was also dethroned from the jiangshu event. He had won the gold two years ago in Kazan, but could only finish second behind home favourite Li Qizhen.
Malaysia also ended up with the silver in the women’s duel event. Having won the gold two years ago, the trio of Phoon Eyin-Loh Ying Ting-Tan Cheong Min were pushed to second spot by Hong Kong’s team of Yuen Ka Ying-He Jianxin-Liu Xuxu.
The Hong Kong side picked up 9.450 ponts to Malaysia’s 9.436 total.
The other Malaysian in action today failed to make the routines count. Loh Choon How finished seventh in the men’s taijijan with 9.503 points.
As for Tan Cheong Min, she only managed eight spot in the women’s Nangun event with 9.270 points. Cheong Min had won the women’s nando event last night.
In the creative group event, the Malaysian team finished fifth with 17.980 points.
