Malaysia crashed to a 5-20 defeat to hosts Singapore in their opening match at the the Fina Water Polo Challengers Cup 5 at the OCBC Aquatic Centre yesterday.
Lee Cheng Kang smashed in six goals in the match to steer Singapore to their second win in the tournament. Cheng Kang scored seven in their opening 26-5 defeat of Zimbabwe.
Malaysia are in Group A of the competition with Singapore, the Philippines, Zimbabwe and Ireland. Group B features Austria, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, India and Hong Kong.
Malaysia play the Phillipines later today.
In the match against Singapore, Malaysia were seven goals down before finding the net. Singapore slotted in three goals in the last 77 seconds to lead 10-1m, with two goals coming form their 15-year-old upcoming star, Yee Tang.
