Indonesian second stringers have assured themselves of one title and are in contention in all other four finals at the Spain Masters.
While their Malaysian counterparts were all knocked out in the quarter-final stages, the Indonesians are putting up a show of strength in Barcelona.
They are assured of the men’s doubles title with Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Pramudya Kusumawardana-Yeremia Yoche Yacob Rambitan making it past their semi-final rivals. The two pairs defeated the Scottish-Danish pairing of Adam Hall-Frederik Sogaard 21-19, 13-21, 21-14 and fourth seeds Christo Popov-Toma Junior Popov of France 18-21, 21-19, 21-14 respectively.
Youngster Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo stunned his teammate and top seed Shesar Hiren Rhustavito (Ina) 21-16, 21-19 in the men’s singles semi-finals and will play Junior Popov for the title.
In the women’s singles, they will rely on Putri Kusuma Wardani, who will play the more experienced Line Christopherson of Denmark in the final.
Their representative in the women’s doubles final will be Yulfira Barkah-Febby Valencia Dwijayanti Gani, who have earned themselves a meeting against top seeds Amelia Magelund-Freja Ravn of Denmark.
The Indonesians will start off as favourites in the mixed doubles with top seeded Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas Mentari playing second seeded Danes Niclas Nohr-Amelie Magelund for the title.
