Graz and New Serbian powerhouse Ub had a perfect record on the opening day of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Doha Masters yesterday.

Austria’s Graz came all the way from the Qualifying Draw and defeated both Ny Harlem and Princeton to advance to the quarter-finals on top of Pool D. After adding  four-time World Tour winners Dejan Majstorovic and Marko Savic from Novi Sad, Ub seems like the team to beat in the tournament.

The Serbian squad defeated first Lusail in OT and then, in the most anticipated game of the day, took care of Novi Sad with Marko Brankovic scoring 9 points against Majstorovic and Savic’s former team.

The experienced Slovenian team of Piran also finished undefeated after taking down Liman 16-14 and Sakiai Gulbele  17-13 in Pool A.

Amsterdam Talent & Pro defeated World Tour reigning champs Riga 18-17 and Edmonton 16-12 to top Pool C.

Meanwhile, Manila Chooks TM shocked local favorites Doha in the Qualifying Draw  in overtime 21-20 with an ice-cold Buzzer Beater courtesy of Chico Lanete.

The Filipino squad, however,  failed to advance to the Main Draw of the competition after losing to Graz , in another thriller 22-17.

Ub’s Strahinja Stojacic led all scorers with 15 points and had the highest Player Value of all players at 17.6. Karlis Lasmanis of Riga and Arvin Slagter of Amsterdam also had 15 points.

The quarter-finals to be played later today will see Piran up against Novi Sad with Graz taking on Riga in the top of the table. The bottom half will see matches between Amsterdam versus NY Harlem and Ub versus Liman.
